Again

July 26, 2016 2:54 PM

Again, but with electric slide guitar.

When I tried to feel alone again,
When I woke up next to my phone again,
Is that light reflecting off my phone?
Or is she finally trying to reach me?

I fucked up and I told a lie.
Can't just apologize and feel alright.
Can't you tell me I'm a good person?
And she'll tell me "I don't want to see you again."

When I tried to feel alone again,
When I woke up next to my phone again,
Is that light reflecting off my phone?
Or is she finally trying to reach me?

An engaging melody, and sung well. Guitar part keeps the momentum up, I like the interplay of the eighth-note guitar vs the half-note+ vocals. Slide adds a lonely vibe that's keyed in well to the lyrics. Also enjoy the collapse-style ending.

Thanks BlackPebble, I really appreciate the slide guitar feedback, I spent a long time trying to figure out how exactly to add it. I'm not a slide expert by any means, so I think for me it's learning when not to add any slide, not overload the song.

I know what you mean on the slide. I play mainly acoustic country blues (and fingerpicking folk), so you'd think my slide would be solid. But every time I pick one up I wrestle with it in frustration until I put it back down. I just keep picking it up and figure I'll dial it in someday.

Wow I love this. I really love it.

Yeah, this evokes the structural and melodic feelings of the Velvet Underground, and the plaintive and home-made voices of the Red House Painters and lo-fi R Stevie Moore (but only at his best). Really beautiful and understated.

This is ace, I love the echoey slide.

The very light rhythm really works, but I missed the rimshot sound on the fourth offbeat! It seems to regularly drop out on that beat and I want it! Just personal preference though :)
