Funeral March

With all due respect to Steve Martin, you can play a sad song on the banjo.

This is an early fingerstyle banjo composition by Frank Converse, 1865. Played on a slightly more modern (fretted, early 1900s-style) banjo, with frame drum and tambourine dirge percussion.

Bring out your dead!

Seriously, though, this is nifty.

Oh, death and grief and sorrow and murder!

Nice work. :)

Black lace parasols and black hoop skirts and black frock coats striding grimly behind the black-hooded black horses pulling the black-draped wagon. Soft sobs, jingling leather harness, creaking black wheels.

Deep Bleak/High Pomp. Excellent.
