Are you switching basses? Other than the effects on parts of the piece I hear an upright (double) bass.

Must be. Either that or I too want to know how to get that upright bass sound type effect without actually playing one (and / or get that electric bass sound off an upright)...

wanker bass + actual rhythm + humour. Awesome!
not that augustweed and snsranch don't have those qualities, of course. But great post, man.

I had to throw something up for the bass fight and finally got a few hours yesterday!
What I did was pick a tempo and some simple chord changes and recorded with a metronome on headphones. I played a few times through on upright (a real one, sorry--no way to fake it yet) walking then a solo, then a few times through on electric playing chords and a solo, and then mixed them together in Cooledit. They don't line up exactly but good enough for the bassfight!
Then I sat down at the computer with my electric and did some wankery.
The ending is played through a Mutron III. I meant to really shred an ending, but my first attempt sounded Spinal Tapishly funny so I left it.
Here's some wanking that didn't made the cut, but I thought it was funny. I call it "Bassline Diarrhea." Wasn't sure where to work it in though. Can you name the quotes? (And how about the quote at the very very end of the bassfight song? That fast little thing that fades out is a quote.)
