Andante Espressivo by Felix Mendelssohn (flute & piano)

April 5, 2019 5:53 PM

Played as prelude to a church service. Recorded on a Tascam DR-05.

This is one of the short pieces that Mendelssohn called "songs without words." Listening to the recording today, it sounds rushed.

Sorry about the "crowd noise". The room is very echo-y.

Very nice, SemiSalt, although I agree with the "rushed" assessment, but in that kind of venue that's very likely to happen, especially with people milling around and getting settled.

There had been a lot of discussion about tempo with my teacher. She preferred a faster tempo than what seemed natural to me. After the performance, I found a video of the original piano version that is much, much slower.
