Far South Reel

One of the coolest tunes Frank B. Converse ever wrote, from page 105 of his 1886 Analytical Banjo Method.
Although the older stroke or "banjo style" of playing was falling out of favor by 1886, Converse included an entire section of instruction and songs for the style and pulled out all of the stops to show how far it could be taken. This tune in particular is full of meticulously notated syncopation and feels years ahead of its time.
The book is an amazing artifact bridging the transition from banjo style to guitar style playing (now usually called classic style)
