Future Knocks

This is one of the first songs I ever wrote. It's called "Future Knocks", written back in 1992. The verses sound sad, because they were about growing up, the choruses are anything but though, about holding on to the moment.

No dad had ever
Taught me to play ball
No one to
Catch me when I fall

I learned about life
At the age of three
Had it all there
On my TV screen

I’ve been looking
For what I can’t find
Just need a little
Peace of mind

I had to teach
Myself how to live
Now this lifestyle
Takes more then I can give

I want this to
Last forever
Now I need you
More then ever
Cause tonight
The future comes
Knockin at my door
Don’t wanna answer
Let it knock some more

When I slept
Underneath the sky
All I had were my dreams
To get, get me by

I couldn’t seem
To find my own way
Needed faith
To make it thru the day

Now I don’t wanna
Grow old no more
Grow to be cold
Sour and sore

But then I met you
One rainy night
You held me close
Made everything alright

I want this to
Last forever
Now I need you
More then ever
Cause tonight
The future comes
Knockin at my door
Don’t wanna answer
Let it knock some more

(Solo)

Now I’m an old man
At age eighteen
Learned too much too soon
It, it seems

I grew up
Way, way to fast
Don’t know what to do
But wish that this time could last

I want this to
Last forever
Now I need you
More then ever
Cause tonight
The future comes
Knockin at my door
Don’t wanna answer
Let it knock some more

I want this to
Last forever
Now I need you
More then ever
Cause tonight
The future comes
Knockin at my door
Don’t wanna answer
Let it knock some more

Awwww the 1992 melancholy vibes are strong with this one! Like what's going on here aside from the badsinging tag ;)
