The Million-Pound Shithammer
September 13, 2007 5:06 AM
A mess-around-at-practice riff that grew into a song. This one knocks down some walls live.
Things got a little weird with this recording; specifically, my vocals are a little more processed than I like, making me sound sort of Ozzy-ish. Not that I've got anything against Ozzy, I'm just not him.

Thanks! I think it's my favorite title, too; except that, even though we're all in our 30s, we all feel like we have to mumble the title whenever a set of band parents happen to be a show.

Nice! Reminds me of Fire Eye'd Boy by B.S.S... at least, your drummer is totally channeling Justin Peroff.

Wow, it's already taken up residence inside my head. How'd you do that so quickly? I am having some difficulty understanding the lyrics, would you consider posting them?
sns is right; best played loudly!

Sure, but let me warn you, they're very inane; made up on the fly during a practice session where it morphed from warm-up riff to full-on song, and then they just sort of stuck. I'd been rereading Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 and just started riffing on it.
There's a million-pound shithammer
hanging over my head
I'm burning so much mescaline
it's crazy I'm not dead
Long way out from Aspen
out to DC
then up to Manchester
I've got a doberman with me
Gotta get back to Aspen
crank out Hey Rube
then head straight north
and castrate the Hube
(after Thompson died, was cremated, and shot out of a cannon, I started switching the last two lines to "turn into powder/and get fired out a tube" sometimes)
