Five Fathoms Down

Melodic, slightly exotic, wistful surf music from Hell.

I was in a band called the Brimstones for a long period of my life. Right before we parted ways, we recorded a bunch of stuff that never really saw the light of day. I like you guys at mefi and think you might like it too. This is one of my favorites. It takes a while to get going, but I think it gets really triumphant at the end.

When the organ kicked in, that was when my cursor moved inexorably to the Favorites button.

Bonzai! Yea, this makes me feel like surfing, or at least watching my kids! Right on.

Pallas, I'm with you on that. I'm the guitar player but the organ makes this song. Do you mean the first kick in around 40 seconds or when it takes the second verse for it's own? 3.14 is the moment I find it really just goes into the stratosphere.

This is great. I'd love to hear more.

I think I mean around 2.45, where it comes in with those arpeggios so very reminiscent of Del Shannon's "Runaway". The guitar work is great too of course-- it's all a delicious minor-key soup on which I wish to surf. Except that Satan's already hanging ten on the crest of the biggest wave. Well done!
