Zillion (cover)

December 19, 2008 7:25 PM

Zillion was a game for the Sega Master System. This is a song from the game (which you can see/hear here -- this song starts about 17 seconds in). I have, however, added lyrics, which are about the game's lack of a save function. With 77 tracks of tiny instruments, this song is probably my grandest musical venture yet.

Man, I've been working on/obsessing over this thing non-stop since yesterday evening. I'm glad it's over (and awesome)!

I'll admit it: I wasn't expecting that line after the first half of your intro. And I definitely wasn't expecting you to then say you've been working on this for less than 24 hours.

Great job. So many people must tell you how unique your sound is.

Really beautiful.
I kind of wish I didn't know it was a cover of a video game song.
Sorry.

Actually, I'm impressed that I could stop working on this song last night and come back to it today. Virtually every other song I've made has been done in one sitting. I wish I were better at taking a break and regaining the motivation I had at the outset.

Oh GOD I hated this game so hard.

This song is beautiful though, thanks.

Wow, it's like...um...Twink meets the Turtles...?

I've never played this game. This is really neat though.

What sort of reed organ is it?

This is strangely beautiful. Like, really gorgeous in certain parts.

Awesome. I loved/hated this game back in the day as well. The lyrics are perfect.

Karlos the Jackal: It's a portable Orcoa reed organ that seems to be identical to this one. Unfortunately, a few of the keys don't work -- I've considered opening it up to see if it's anything I can fix, but I'm not that adventurous. Or handy, for that matter.

By the way, I've just learned the name of this song. It's called "Break a Trap for Yourself".
