Zimmerlujah

An attempt to anger both Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan.

There's acres of study to be done if I want my Dylan to be more credible than it is—this is hacky stuff. But hopefully it's at least not overtly cartoonish.

Aiming for (my vague conception of) the late-sixties Dylan-with-The-Band territory with this. Would have loved to add some real straight kick-snare-kick-snare drums to it, but the tempo is a little to mushy to lay fake drums on top on.

I didn't like my big-stop ending so I decided to go with the reliable Too-Abrupt Fade. And chococat's brilliant use of free crowd sounds on his Cash cover both made me want to do the same thing here and made me feel like I'd be totally ripping that off. Heh.

Also, this version uses all the verses that I don't prefer, because (a) I'm getting kind of tired of singing the verses I like at this point and (b) these verses seem to fit better into the Upbeat Talky Bob Dylan lyrical mold.

This is one of my favorite of the 'Lujah's so far, which is saying quite a bit.

Best I've heard so far - you've really got the Dylan vocal nailed. 'triffic!

I dunno... I understood way too many of your lyrics. Shouldn't Dylan be more mumbly? Another good rendition anyway, this challenge rocks.

I appreciated the understandable vocals and the arrangement/instrumentation was on the button. I thought of it as "Dylan in a More Perfect World".

I really like that organ playing, especially.

Oh, glory, Glory! Excellent. Especially the fade out harmonica.

Yeah, this wins for my favourite Hallelujah mix - and to think, I almost missed it!
