Unrecognisable-lullejah

June 21, 2009 12:27 AM

Instrumental nylon string guitar, borrowing harminocally from Mr Cohen, but in my own style. Hope everyone enjoys it.

I tried a medieval feel (took ages, didn't sound very good), a rhumba theme, I listened to everyone elses entries which intimidated me a bit, then I thought just play around with it, make it my own and see what happens.

Wow, really pretty. Sometimes I can almost catch the Hallelujah but it always slips from my grasp.

Really beautifully done. Your tone is even nicer here than I remember it on other tracks. I can hear how the piece is harmonically related to Hallelujah, which is kind of fun knowledge to listen with. It's like experiencing two pieces of music at once, in a way.

Its actually a simple enough line. C major chord (capo on the 6th fret I think it was), leave your index finger off, pluck each string, when you get to the B string, hammer on/off the C then pluck back down the chord. Then on the E string, pinkie finger holding G, pull off to E, pluck back up the rest of the chord (open string on B).

OK it doesn't sound simple... but it looks it :) The right hand does most of the work, which is the case in almost all of my stuff.

Stupendously badass. I was singing the song over it, very close and fun fit to sing!

BTGOG: I'd love to hear a recording of that, I thought the guitar might be a bit too decorative to give space for vocals... I'd record it myself, but I have a terrible voice, like a cat having its tail stepped on. The geneva convention prohibits me from singing in public...
