Eliza

April 24, 2010 9:40 AM

The first song I ever wrote, trying to capture my feelings following the breakup of my first serious relationship. Song 7 of 8 from the recent Red On Strike studio session.

Faces
Staring from a broken mirror
And everyday it’s getting clearer
You’re all alone now
Eliza’s never coming home

Footsteps
Out of the door they’re falling
Can anybody hear me calling?
You’re all alone now
Eliza’s never coming home

I hear the dark thoughts taking over
I think they’re slowly drowning me
And everything I’d like to be
Is something I will never see

Voices
Follow down the stairs behind her
There’s no way to change her mind here
You’re all alone now
Eliza’s never coming home

No one
Will ever find me worth believing
There’s no time for self-deceiving
You’re all alone now
Eliza’s never coming home

I hear the dark thoughts taking over
I think they’re slowly drowning me
And everything I’d like to be
Is something I will never see
