At the risk of sounding like an asshole, what did you contribute to the production of this song? It's a bit unclear. Were you actually involved in making it?

As a matter of fact, Yes. I was actually involved with making it. I'm the producer / song writer, A Gap Between. I'm also one of the principal owners of Nueva Forma, an audio / visual record label » http://nuevaforma.com. I produced the beats, the melodies, and even went so far as to make it sound as old and "bucolic" as possible.

So, thanks for your concern, but now I'm curious, why are you so concerned about it? What reason do you have to question the authenticity of the track (at the risk of sounding like an asshole)? ;-)

Sorry, something about the way the post is worded, it struck me more as an advertisement for someone else's music, which is, of course, not allowed. I do rather like the track, I just was unsure what your relationship was to the song. It wouldn't have been the first time. Sorry for my rather curt approach to asking the question; it was at the end of a long, frustrating day, and, well, I didn't really know how else to ask...frankly, I probably should have slept on it before even posting anything. My apologies.

Right, then. Now that I've made a proper cock of myself, I enjoyed this track. It reminds me of some of the things done by the petite&jolie collective, or a little bit of Bonobo; very pleasant and calm, yet it moves along nicely, much like a lazy drive. I think you definitely succeeded.

I did have to look up the "bucolic" in the interwebs, so my vocabulary feels a bit sheepish, too.

urgh. "the word 'bucolic,'" that is. That's it, I quit.

Hey, no worries. Using MeFi is still rather new to us. Even though I produce under A Gap Between and another moniker known as Masmöd, and I'm one of the principals for Nueva Forma, I didn't take into consideration that would come off somewhat misleading. I also noticed that it was tweeted as "Bonfire by A Gap Between by Nueva Forma." If I had known it was going to show up like that, I certainly would have thought twice about how to title it. For the future though, I'll be publishing more free music under a proprietary account for A Gap Between, and when I get around to it, for Masmöd as well. :-)

Thanks for the compliment btw, and sorry for the confusion.

Cheers,

- m

Not to mention that, since you've now favorited all these tracks by all three of your own accounts, they're going to sit at the top of the stats for a while. This doesn't sit right to me, at all.

Heya, wanted to jump in here re: the weirdness mentioned above. I've talked with neuvaforma about how mefi works and why we don't do the multiple-accounts-for-different-bands sort of thing and the general anti-self-promotion bent of the site, and I think the whole thing is a lot clearer to him. Closed up those spare accounts and removed the posts under them, totally okay if he wants to repost the stuff with this account at a normal pace and in a more personal fashion going forward.

So, if you guys can forgive him some newbie bumbling and nuevaforma can roll with the learning-the-ropes punches, I think this will work out okay going forward.
