Recorded this too late for inclusion on the current Japan-related podcast, so I'm posting it here.

I have to go nite nite, but thanks for posting this man. It's better to hear than to read this kind of thing!

You should record a clip of yourself reading the novel excerpts in your profile.

I'm glad you and yours got through it, flapjax.
All the best.

The part about not being able to stand in the parking lot is scary as hell and sounds like trying to find your sea-legs on "solid" ground.

I hope this isn't silly, but are you finding yourself being more aware of your surroundings and checking for exists and stuff?

(Looking forward to your podcast!)

Thanks so much, friends, for your kind comments.

sns, to answer your question, I'd say that in general my awareness is heightened. There have been so many aftershocks in Tokyo since the big one... a couple of those have seen me quickly donning my hardhat and getting out of the building I live in. Several of the aftershocks have happened relatively early in the morning (7-ish) which is a helluva way to wake up, I'm telling you!

My wife and daughter have been out of Tokyo since 3/17, and I've been in and out of Tokyo twice since then. Right now I'm back on Awaji Island with them (at this place, which is wonderful, lots of good people around), but am heading into Tokyo this morning for a gig there tonight. Being away from the aftershocks as well as being further away from Fukushima has been a relief. Recorded quite a few songs here as well, some of which I've already posted here to MeFiMu over the past few days, and others I'll be posting soon.

Man I have to applaud you for staying right in the saddle and keeping the shows going. That's awesome. I feel like sharing some "quake" stories with you but it's too soon for that.

Instead I'll just burn some copal and send my best wishes to you and all the folks North of you.

Loved hearing your story flapjax. Dear God you have a fabulous voice!! Is that a touch of southern twang I hear?

Your vocals are a bit too front and center in this mix and I'm not really feeling the tune.
I'd ease up on the vox reverb and bring up the percussion by a few clicks at least.
So glad you're all okay.
