wake up song (in D: for Dog, did he begin to pray?)
This is one of two plus songs written by mistake/default around iphone wake-up tones. Y'know, you wake up at some godawful hour with that godwaffle loop in your ear and eventually you're going to make something of it. I mean...you'd hope, Godwaffles. You'd hope. [more inside]
Silent Night / Seven O'Clock News
What I did for 25.12.16, echoing Simon and Garfunkel.
LRAD Part1 Feat Kate Tempest
Inspired by the flames in her brain.
Sculpted on an ipad , on the bus , over a few days..
Feedback always welcome
I Had To Crawl To Arizona
Here's something brand new from a show I did last week. Dusted off the trusty old drum machine for this one, and brought in a couple of squeezy dolphins and an old friend from Kansai to help out a bit. Video (or is that a fax?) here.
If I Could Just Pull It Off
This little number rhymes "burning bush" with "tush". Also "Otis Redding" with "bedding" and "wedding". And "golden ladder" with "pancake batter". Plus, so much more. You are urged to listen. Video and lyrics here.
Open Doors
A love song, of sorts, in repose. [more inside]
Lexington Avenue Line (spoken version)
Took part in a poetry event recently and read this song, one that I posted here at MeFiMu back in 2007. Video at YouTube or Vimeo.
post-quake Japan report
Recorded this too late for inclusion on the current Japan-related podcast, so I'm posting it here.
Summer's Calling (remix)
I wasn't at all happy with the first version of this challenge track that I posted. So I redid it, and now it makes me feel all sunshiney inside. [more inside]
Chocolate Bunny Unwraps
I made a little video the other day, inspired by the chocolate easter bunny a friend brought my daughter from Australia. It's a tragedy, in one act. This is the narration soundtrack, by Io Lula, who also happens to be my daughter. She doesn't work cheap, but she's the best in the business. Video can be seen at vimeo. [more inside]
It Would Appear
The first line of this song is a slightly reworked comment I got on a photo I posted to Flickr. That was the spark that inspired the rest of the song. Oh, and it's a spoken song. Video of this performance at YouTube and Vimeo. [more inside]
Twist and Doubt (spoken version)
This performance recorded live at Super Deluxe, Tokyo, on October 27, 2009. If you'd like to know what that string instrument is that's accompanying my voice, well, one video is worth a thousand words... [more inside]
Misanthropic Moods
Spoken word/ambient noise piece stolen from and dedicated to e.e. cummings on this day, the near midpoint between his birthday and deathday.
Diamond Jaws
My 2-cents-worth on the international diamond trade, in about 2 minutes. Video version at YouTube and Vimeo. [more inside]
Femme Fatale
As realized by the Christopher Walken & The Lounge Fellas. [more inside]
love song for kilgore trout
Sorry it's a little quick and dirty. I wrote this poem a few weeks back, and it seemed like today was a good day to record it in some fashion. Dedicated to Kurt, who's up in heaven now.
About the song: It's just spoken word which i put over a little song i wrote in high school called "so it goes." It get's kinda noisy in parts, especially the outro. Hope you enjoy.
Three Dimensional
Absolutely ridiculous synth-and-spoken-word composition I recorded to
cut my teeth on Reason.
A Complicated Man
Pretend poetry soundscape using minimal sampling
Atlantis
A fairly straightforward narrative. Recorded on 16 track, 1" tape, as was the custom at the time. I played tenor sax, yelled some stuff, and played or programmed all the electronic stuff. Recorded and mastered at the legendary Flat Iron Studio in Wicker Park (well, legendary to Screeching Weasel and Ralph Colvert fans, I guess).
