Auld Lang Syne, ragtime fingerstyle arrangement

December 29, 2011 10:36 PM

It's been five years since my last attempt at arranging Auld Lang Syne. I thought I might try to start a small fire under it this year.

I'll use this space to publicize my two favorite verses of the song:

We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.

I don't know what to say, other than that this is just lovely. Nicely played and recorded; I love the harmonics thrown in here and there and you can hear just the right amount of "string squeak".

Wow. I've played guitar for 25 years and I'll never be able to play like that. Sounds really wonderful.
