Jump Rope

This is a "synth wave" cover of a song I like by the band Stickers.

The song is normally pretty intense. I won't even go into the subject matter. The goal was to take an aggressive song and make it like a melancholy dance tune.

I also wanted to try out my new cowbell so I put some of that on, like a little Bobby O flavor. The drum machine is an 808 audio sample from the DM1 app for iPad. The rest was recorded without midi or anything like that.

This is cool. i don't know the original, i'll have to check that out.

was there a sequencer of any kind? if not, your timing is a lot better than mine!

Also, a request that you answer the questions in "Who's Reading Music?", if you're so inclined.

I used Logic for this. I couldn't find a midi cable so I just said screw it. 12 years back I did a synthy album on 4 track, and that was just nightmarish to nail everything. This song isn't complex, but it was refreshing to stop thinking about quantizing and fussing with bits of rectangles on a graph.

I got a big Mindless Self Indulgence vibe from this. That's a huge compliment from me. I love it.
