My entry for the Bowie MeFi Music Challenge

I stumbled across this challenge just now, so I was not assigned a song. But, I did happen to have this file on my laptop, which I am happy to throw into the ring.

I recorded this on a wintery December afternoon in 2005 as a test of my new ProTools setup in my apartment.

Heh, a decidedly worthy take on it.

Those are some serious drums.

Yeah, killer drums! Well-played and sung, too.

You recorded those drums in your apartment? Hews pretty closely to the original track, good sounds overall.

dubold: "You recorded those drums in your apartment?"

indeed. The secret being that they're Roland V-Drums. Not cheap (That set, a TD-20, was $6K or so in 2005), but I hadn't had my acoustic kit set up since 2000 when I moved into Manhattan, and they were worth every penny. Still are, in fact.

Funny, I like the early 90s californian hard rock frame built around this. Your musicianship is impressive...

It's a pretty straight cover obviously, but I still like how your different gear and different era make the song sound.
