It Ain't Easy (in the Country) - Bowie Cover

August 8, 2013 7:05 PM

My entry for the mass remake of Ziggy Stardust.

Tried hard to make a grand Flaming Lips-style version with 50 layers of freaky guitars and kaossilator, but that didn't work, so I went country. Started out trying to go for a Johnny Cash / Sam Phillips sound, but the guitars swung hard towards Jerry Reed.

Fun! I'm struck by how well the basic drum holds it all together and proper loving the guitar sound and chorus.

I definitely hear the Johnny Cash sound! Nice. And the new(?) lyrics are great.

And the new(?) lyrics are great.

Thanks... I stole a verse from the Stones' "Some Girls" because they just seemed to fit there.
