Winter Song

June 6, 2015 9:44 PM

A piano composition written a while ago at the end of autumn for the first snowfall. The changing of seasons; the coming winter; delight in the sounds of children playing in the fresh fallen snow.

So evocative. Totally paints the biting, gray chill and the snow drifting down onto the fallen leaves. Can see the children bursting out of their homes in joy after their tedious wait for their parents to bundle them up. I really enjoyed this, thank you!

After some initial confusion, I can tell you that your song sounds much better when it does not have the adagio from Bruckner's 3rd symphony playing at a low, but audible, level behind it.

That low to high transition around 1:15 was done really well. Nice piece.

I like this, you know what your motivic building blocks are and you use them effectively. And I like that octave jump a lot, too.
