Dark as a Dungeon

An old Merle Travis song that I learned years ago when I first started getting into bluegrass. Another chance to break in the new resonator guitar, and do some fun chorus harmonies.

A little baritone uke on this as well to fill out the sound a little bit.

Between the chorus harmonies and those low g notes in the melody, this is a real vocal stretch for me, but I've always liked the sort of swoopy feel of this melody and the way those high harmonies on the choruses blow the song up after the more meditative verses.

This is a lovely song, I've never heard it before. Yeah the "swoop" up on the "the sun never shines" line is great. Liking the harmonies on the chorus.

Great job, the harmonies are so sweet and lively. Nice playing too.

The struggle to hit the lows enhances the song. Ye need to wurk on yer Oklahoma accent tho.
