The Way of the World [Flipper Cover]

...you do what you can, though! goddamnit!

I started recording this in Late December, as 2016 was coming to a close. I picked it back up last night and finished it today. As I finished it, the external drive with all my music on it started acting haywire. This song puts that into perspective, though – things could be much, much worse.

I wasn't familiar with the song and I prefer your more melodic vocals! The sometimes almost growly sound also reminded me a bit of Tom Waits in some spots later on. While listening I only wished I could hear the bass line a little more in the mix -- by comparison, the acoustic guitar was very clear. It sounds like you had fun recording this. :)

I hope you were able to back up your drive!

Oh yeah, I was able to save most of my music from a backup I'd made a couple weeks before, luckily. I was able to easily replace the music I'd added in the intervening weeks. Now I'm making backups much more often.

Yeah, I was using a fuzzy sinewave synth setting for the bass line, and it got buried. And I think I may have been a little over the top about the vox processing, but I wanted it to sound twisted a little, cause Flipper was a twisted band.

I love Flipper. Didn't they have two bassist at some point?

Either that, or the singer and bass traded off duties from time to time, but they were definitely a bass-driven band. Krist Novoselic played for them in one of the reformed lineups.
