This is wonderful. I like the combination of the fast notes as an almost pillowy undercurrent that sort of appears and disappears under the rest of the parts as they come in. Great chorus break, and excellent mix, arrangement, and vocals.
Listening to this is like taking a time machine back to the '80s. If you said this was actually from 1986, I would believe it.

driving 80 with the windows down
left arm burning in the sun
rearview mirror filled with faces
and they're smiling: every one.
telepathically we're laughing
though we do not understand
up ahead the exit beckons
toward a future made of sand
lift our heads and close our eyes
we're in love, we don't know why
if we stay we'll never die
I will not say goodbye
on the beach without a blanket
drawing intersecting lines
conversations mix with salty ocean air
drifting slowly on through time
lift our heads, etc.
these mirrors are invisible
our reflections deep and wide
in the distance we hear vehicles
searching for the places where we hide
lift our heads, etc.
