I was listening to my entire music collection on shuffle tonight (as we all do from time to time, don't we?) when I came across this recording I made - I guess - sometime last year.
It was originally recorded by Wilco for the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album but was ultimately dropped and later released as "Laminated Cat" by Loose Fur, a side-project involving Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and Glenn Kotche, as well as Jim O'Rourke who ended up mixing Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
This minimalist version was (perhaps obviously) inspired by the one Tweedy performs live in the Wilco documentary, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.
The Wilco version is circulating on the web together with other YHF demos; if you can't find it, I might know a guy. Oh, and as you might have noticed I'm mainly posting tracks off the forthcoming Wolkenvelden album; this one is not connected to that, of course, I just thought someone might enjoy it. posted by goodnewsfortheinsane at 7:36 PM on
