Room at the End of the Hall

I had this vague melody a year or so ago, and at the time it was starting to become a song about riding my bike at night, drunk. I stuck it on the backburner until after I saw that Johnny Cash bio-pic, where they sing that June Carter duet "Time's a Wastin'" together, (which they never did in real life.) So then I got this idea to write a nice country duet like that, but instead of it being all happy and fresh-new-relationship-let's-consummate-it kinda thing, I wanted it to be about people that hated each other intensely. People that were sick and tired of seeing each other everyday for years and years. Then, for an added twist, I forced my lovely wife to sing the harmony part. We actually do like each other, though.

Before the movie made it here, I heard a bunch of people complain on how its focus wasn't on what they wanted it to be, of how it wasn't what they thought a movie about Johnny Cash should be and all that. I thought I was going to hate it, but I went to see it and I loved it. I loved the whole film, but that "Time's a Wastin'" scene was my favorite. Boy, that girl can sing. I actually learn that song and Jackson and used to sing it with my girl to get her to practice her English.

As for your song. Either you are ultra prolific, you write and record hundreds and only show us the best ones, or every single one you do is very, very good. I like it how recently you've been exploring different genres. Can't wait to hear more.

No kidding. You've been coming up with truly fantastic stuff. I'm going to need to make a playlist for all this.

Great guitar sound man. Spot on. Seems to go from Johnny to the Handsome Family in a matter of seconds - and that solo is straight from Liverpool circa 1965. I love it!

Reminds me of a John Prine song. The one where the couple are so sick of each other that they want to invite the neighbors over. yeah duh, (checked amazon) "Let's invite them over".

Nice!!
