It's Time to Get Up
January 11, 2008 5:41 PM
A short song about sleeping in and not having someone to rely on.
I've always been a little tired,
Ain't easy getting up on my own,
I've always had trouble finding
my way to sleep when I'm alone.
I know you'll wake me,
I know, I know you'll wake me,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
When the morning, it comes around.
I've always been a little tired,
Ain't easy getting up on my own,
I've always had trouble finding
my way to sleep when I'm alone.
I know you'll wake me,
I know, I know you'll wake me,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
When the morning, it comes around.

Thanks a lot, micay. I've appreciated all your comments a lot! I like what you said about it working as a whole, because I'm not so sure about the guitar that comes in at the end... what do you (or anybody) think?

I can imagine you coming up with that riff and getting a big "I just found an awesome!" grin on your face.

I like this very much, including the guitar at the end, actually -- I think your instinct is correct that there's got to be more layering there, because the lyrics essentially require it. If you aren't familiar with it already, you may want check out Roy Harper's "Hey Francesca," which is the one song that's probably taught me the most about what you can do with a very short song and this kind of elegant simplicity.

What micayetoca & mm said - there's an earthy elegance to your playing that is so appealing, and, for a n00b like me, really inspiring. Great work.

Jesus, how did I miss this one? This is fantastic. Slow, lazy (in a good way), deep. And I have a special affinity for scratchy recording qualities, too.
