Gideon (MMJ cover)

Quick solo acoustic cover of the My Morning jacket song.

I recorded this in under an hour on Saturday afternoon because I hadn't recorded anything in a while. Sometimes it's fun to just bang out a cover rather than try an original and spend your time wondering whether each part of it is rubbish or not. Obviously I can't compete with Jim James vocal-wise, but I don't think there's too much shame in that.

I don't know anything about My Morning Jacket, but this is really excellent. Like, really good.

I love the original and you have done it justice my friend. Good work.

Ditto what Corduroy said. You did a great job matching the multiple guitar parts, and of course the vocal parts are solid as well. I wish I had a range like that. Actually I wish my voice was good in any range, but I just tend to keep my mouth shut...

Do I detect some guitar-pound percussion in there as well?

Yeah, I did a bit of guitar thumping to fill out the second half of the song. Basically, it was one of those songs that I always ended up playing when in random guitar noodling mode, so I thought that since I had a mic out to record an original, I might as well give it a go.
