Outta My Way

July 7, 2006 11:37 AM

One of my first attempts with GarageBand. "Outta My Way" is the title song of what I envisioned would be an "album" chronicling my decision to move from Washington, DC to rural Vermont. This particular song was intended to be about my work day.

"This particular song was intended to be about my work day."

I can feel that, yes. It has a very "80s montage of going to work at a busy office tower" feel about it. There's the part where you stop at the street vendor to buy the paper and some coffee, then almost have it spilled on you (but recover, go you) as you bustle through the crowds. There's the part where you walk into the building, past ol' Smitty at the desk (who doesn't need to see your ID, Mr. Johnson), step into the big glass elevator and ride up to the 54th floor. There's the part where you wander through the maze of desks and cubicles to your corner office on your way to make dollar-dollar. And finally you sit down at your desk, unfold the WSJ, and we zoom in through the steam rising off the coffee, tight on the paper, so close that it fades to black... and scene.

Yea, this was a really good listen! Good work. I've heard good stuff about GarageBand, I guess this proves it!
