This was a sort of contemplative outro track for an album I released on Soundcloud earlier this year. The highlight is probably the delightfully warbly horn synth I stumbled across that did a decent job of filling out the song's character with its wandering melody.

I think the term remix is a big put off for many people and, if measuring according to the number of remixes out there that are just so standard dance-floor filler, it's understandable why there is such a stigma attached to this word. But there are moments of light shooting through when a producer or gifted musician manage to 'reconstruct' a song rather than just 'remix' it. Likely that's where the term 'rework' has started to become used more and more often.... to set them apart. Whatever you want to call it - here is one such track that differs significantly from the original in all it's stunning rework/remix glory. Kudos to Japanese producer Shintaro Haioka for this gift to Ummagma.

A simple version of a cool, brooding electronic jam. Underlying ambient riff accentuated with minor chord synth jabs alternating in EQ/phaser/flanger/stereo effect layers.
I went to Alaska cruise several times and one day, I sat in the library and looked out the ocean from the window. It was such a thrilling moment and I created this music with my little laptop computer. I tried to describe the massive and spiritual scenery of Alaska and its vanity as well. Its "Gold Mining" starting in 1870, which was mainly all about fantasy and led so many people to tragedy, was expressed in this music.

When you dig the original of a song so much that you can't imagine how anybody could possibly ever dissect it and re-embody it in an alternate format, sometimes you are pleasantly surprised when indeed someone comes along who capably does just that - with flair, good taste and a handful of cards up their sleeve, dealt ever so cleverly within the remix they have created. What happened was this: I discovered an Ableton tutorial about how to create a pretty convincing shitty-old-tape effect, and then I upgraded my phone to iOS 7 and heard the new ringtones (which are actually really nice), and then I started noodling around, and I made a little thing of which I am unreasonably fond.
An electronica track (possibly describable as “techno”) I created in one day for the 20th Project. It starts with a kick/hi-hat (and later a snare) as well as synth bass and lead lines; the track itself is in 7/4 time. [more inside]
One of my first attempts at making music on a tablet (well, except for the guitars)... This is still very much a work in progress, but I kind of like how this mix is shaping up. This will eventually have vocals. Part of a bigger new project I'm working on under the tentative working title "The Big Dismal."

I had a bit of fun with this: it's about a relationship gone wrong. I believe that the dual bass part is rhythmically interesting. Double bass and synth bass rhythmically intertwine and are coupled with a synth trumpet. There may be some Brian Eno influences a la The Drop.
