Damn The Man

January 11, 2009 7:54 PM

A quick demo I recorded last Thurs/Fri. Slow building, pretty layered guitar & tom tom-driven indie-jazz type stuff.

Damn The Man
With all his self-destructive plans
That he holds in his shaking hands

He settles in
Lets the night show him where he's been
Down the roads that he fears the most
So he walks them

Dusk carries on
Bites the bleeding lips of dawn
Sleep swallows him deep
'Till his promise is gone

Now, he awakes to an empty home
His garden is overgrown

Damn the Man
As he justifies
Heaven to Hell

Dusk carries on
Bites the bleeding lips of dawn
Sleep swallows him deep
'Till his promise is gone

Now, he awakes to an empty home

This is cool, something about the arrangement and vocals sounds very chill, in this late sixties Southern California way, and the structural changes work quite nicely. Listened twice in a row - would buy the album.

Yeah, this is really wonderful, self. I really like when the jazzy type stuff kicks in. I want to hear more stuff like that. I don't like intense jazz, but I really, really liked what you did.

The recording is really beautiful! And there are some interesting rhythmic things going on here, not to mention great singing. Really good post.

I just listened to this and your other posted track (here). They're both fantastic - I love the harmonies and rhythmic changes you have going on in this one, and the other is beautifully haunting. Do you have any other music available online?
