Should I Stay or Should I Go

I was inspired to do this quick a capella interpretation of The Clash after reading Ironmouth's opinions on how singers aren't creative since all they're capable of is mimicking things that geniuses wrote.
For a first take I was surprised to find I liked it enough that my pianist is going to do an arrangement so we can work on performing it onstage. I'm picturing it as a funky jazz treatment with full band.
And I have Ironmouth to thank. THANKS!!!

I recorded it with my laptop on my lap, keeping time with my hand against my leg.

Thanks for posting this. It really sounds like you're right here in the room. (Totally agree with the full band treatment.)
Oh BTW, !!!!!!!!!

Great song. I wanted to say that I didn't say that singers couldn't be creative, what I said was that an interpreter of other's work couldn't be considered a genius and that geniuses had to be creators of original works, not interpretations. Some jazz musicians and classical composers can and did so much with another's work to make it an original work.

Uh huh. Right.
And, as I did days ago, I still completely and totally disagree with your incredibly myopic point of view. Which I'm totally allowed to do.

Nice stuff, completely made it your own and ORIGINAL, and you have a pleasent sounding voice. On a side note I read the whole argument thing and I have to disrespectfully disagree with Ironmouth until he submits a song himself, at which point he can have an opinion. MefiMusic now takes requests, Ironmouth I request "It's Raining Men."

Well, I doubt he'll be singing any songs he didn't write. Truth be told, I'm actually very curious what *his* songs sound like.
All I know is that the composer of "It's Raining Men" was clearly an indisputable genius.

I do covers all of the time.
If you could link to where I said singers "couldn't be creative" I'd love to see that.
I will work on getting something up soon.

I will say this, I don't have half the voice you do.

This is nice. I like the lap tapping, or whatever that soft beat is. Please post it when the piano player comes!
