Chopin's Prelude in E Minor, Op. 28, No. 4, for Guitar and Kazoo

July 15, 2009 8:14 PM

As promised.

So I was chatting with my friend about how I was recording the E minor prelude on guitar, and he was asking me about how I was doing it. I said, "the left hand is perfect for guitar, and the melody would sound great on a kazoo, so it totally works, too."

He wrote back, "A kazoo? O, dios mio..." or something like that, thinking that I was actually going to do it.

So of course, I did. If you like, you can watch me record the kazoo track on top of the already-complete guitar stuff, which I posted yesterday.

Because I'm not sure some people have known how to take it, I will say flat-out: it is totally appropriate for you to laugh at and make fun of this. Please do. (Although I must admit, I like it in some ridiculous way.)

G'day, all!

Few people know this, but Chopin originally intended for it to be on Kazoo, Jew's Harp, ukulele, and Electric Bassoon.

You should do that next, please.

Awesome! It makes my day when dumb and/or silly stuff I do makes people happy. Woo!

(I had time for this absurdity because I've just moved to Montreal and don't know a soul here yet and don't have anything to do until Sept. 1, so if anyone wants to a) collaborate over the internet or b) hang out in Montreal, memail me! Thank goodness for the meetup on Sunday...)

You play kazoo better than I do. Now I have something to strive for.
