Open Your Eyes

Another Geese song, this one's new. Wrote it this afternoon. Sounds like I stumbled into a Pearl Jam/Stone Temple Pilots song, circa 1992. Ah, well. Enjoy.

(K. Gruber)

VERSE 1:
Clip in the chamber
Gun in my hand
Rules of persuasion
Taking a stand

CHORUS:
Open the door, I've got a surprise
Reality's shifting; don't you realize?
Best settle down now; I think that it's wise
You're just a fool unless you open your eyes

VERSE2:
Act of defiance
Drinks and cigarettes
You always talk of money
But you're always losing bets

I really like the way the clean organ comes in against the dirty guitar at the very beginning. Can't quite swallow "surprise/realize" rhyme in the chorus. Also, I feel like the way you say the word "motherfucker" is too chatty.

The "motherfucker" bit (along "Yeah!/"Whoo!" and "Fuck it up" just before the solo) is ripped off from Pearl Jam. once i realized how Pearl jammy the song sounded, i went full bore. I believe in the middle of "Alive" or "Even Flow," Eddie Vedder says "Yeah, yeah, motherfucker; yeah!"

Maybe I'll change "don't you realize?" to "you wear a disguise." A bit trite, but whatever. That'll still rock.
