Last Train (live)

January 8, 2010 8:24 AM

Another live recording from the opening hours of January 1, 2010, coming at you from deepest Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. I'm playing the Dan Moi (Vietnamese jaw harp) here, and singing about the all-too-common concern of Tokyoites: missing that saishuu densha. Video of this same performance at YouTube or Vimeo

I know you use a lot of jaw harp in your posts, but I've never heard it sound so expressive (but maybe I haven't been listening hard enough). And I recommend the video to everyone, as it's captivating to watch you play it live. And the song rocks!

Yes, it's definitely very cool seeing you live. I have to ask, since we can't hear any audience noise, were you getting any oohs and aahs from them. I certainly let out an ooh cool, when you were breakin' it down on the harp.

Thanks so much for your kind words, abc123, much appreciated.

sns, yeah, there's the usual shouts and cries of unabashed love and admiration from the crowd, sure. I guess the most common is "you're a fuckin' GENIUS!", or "oh god, take me home tonight!", that sort of thing, but since this is a line recording from my mixer, you won't hear those...
