Kids (MGMT cover)

Another loud, sloppy, first-takes-only FourTrack cover. One of my favorite earworms, though I should really have listened to it a few times to figure out how the verses go.

This is another honest four-track recording:

1. Synth!'s Farsifa voice on my iPad;
2. Piano for the disco bass stuff and some fill, plus backing vox, and some clapping and stomping at the beginning and end;
3. Epiphone Casino plugged into my super shitty little practice amp with the gain turned up as high as its transistory ass will go, plus lead vox;
4. Drums, with the iPhone sitting inside my (detached) cowbell creating a crazy tunnel effect during some parts where there's mostly cymbal splash going on.

I feel like I should a more serious cover of this song some time, I really do like it an awful lot, but as a random exercise this morning this was fun to do.

I am enjoying this low-fi turn.

I like it! Not a gigantic fan of MGMT, but this recording sounds happy and natural and fits the song really well.

The piano is your friend there. I'd do it only with that part and a nice vocal mic. It would sell millions.
