You Are The One

I know you never meant to bring it quite to this place And everybody watching can see it's a hell of a show I know you're only feeling like a mouse in a rat race But there's just one thing I think you ought to know If it's down to me or you, you got to go

The line breaks were there on preview, I swear!

Anyway, we'll be playing Saturday night with a bunch of cool bands at the Starudust Lounge, 7643 Firestone Blvd , in Downey, CA.

They don't allow linebreaks in music.metafilter for some reason -- my posting had 'em.

Great cut, full of energy, and the vocals are particularly well mixed -- it's a constant complaint of mine that the texture and for that matter the lyrics are lost in high-energy lyrics.

On the downside :-D that high-pitched snare drum is horrid! Is it a drum machine or is it compressed to death? I'd try to insert a little variation so each hit is just a little different, perhaps make it a little longer (short gate) and centered at a somewhat low frequency, perhaps even simply turning it down a little too.

(I do hope that you in specific and you in general appreciate my technical comments about the mixes -- they're in the spirit of improvement!)

Thanks lupus-- always appreciate constructive criticism. We want to go into the studio again in October, so I'm trying to keep track of the various improvements people have sugested-- Mefi is a great resource.

Last time in we did 8 tracks in a single 16 hour day, and I think that was our biggest mistake. We were all brain dead by the time we got to the final mix.

In the spirit of 'different strokes' I love a high, compressed, tight snare. I think a tightened-to-hell timpani snare can sound great. And I think this sound works in this mix.
