Bring Us Your Leader

September 14, 2010 5:24 AM

Another lo-fi acoustic tune about the end of the world. Not too cheerful stuff.

The world will end,
And when it ends,
The sea will part and little men with pointy sticks,
Will come to my door.
They'll say, "bring us your leader"

I'll assume the post,
Like I was he, I'll direct them to,
Where you sleep tonight.
So lock all your doors,
And hide all your children.
Hide all your children.

Tell them not to peek,
cause it won't be pretty,
And not to yell, when they hear you screaming.

When the little men,
Have done their work,
We'll dance on your grave,
Until the day is done.

You are probably tired of being compared to Death Cab for Cutie, but I would almost believe this was some bootleg recording of Gibbard. Love the feel and sound of the guitar. How'd you record it?

Thanks, Corduroy. You are right. Being compared to Ben Gibbard is the most frequent "compliment" that I receive. Damn my boyish higher register!

The recording process: 1 cheap condensor microphone plugged into a usb interface into laptop. I try various positions until it sounds ok.
