Every Wave of Sound

September 16, 2010 8:36 PM

My break-up song, written a number of years ago.

Well, in all likelihood,
I will remember you,
For you were the last relic of my innocence.
Calling out of my window pane,
Wound down tightly to the end.

So that every wave of sound,
Can reach your precious heart,
Mended time and time again.

But the worst part of me,
Broke it once again,
and left you with the only
Good part of me, so I grieve,
And I grieve until now.

There is a part of you,
In every pulse since then,
When I knew I could love you,
Through all the waking hours,
And the dark, dark ones too.

So this will be the last,
Song I sing for you,
And finally hope to bury,
Your memory under the wreckage that was me.
That was me.

There's a few things I really like about this. The sincerity is there and the sort of plainspeak way you sing it really adds to the purity of the song. I also like the way it's recorded and played, without too much worry about production and multitracking. It's just you and a guitar.
Good stuff, man. Good song.

Thanks, tunewell. It's just the way my songs seems to work. Most of them sound terrible whenever I rerecord, I just end up with a bunch of sketches and half-songs. Some better than other. =)
