Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (A Dramatic Reenactment)

December 8, 2010 10:49 PM

I recently discovered this bit of classic radio-recorded vinyl. Enjoy a blast from the (present) past.

This...is stupid. There's no other or better way to describe it. However, it was fun. It also had to be cut from our work-in-progress Gyrophonic Christmas album, as it's not in the public domain, and it's not worth the pain in the ass of licensing what is, frankly, a terrible song. We really improved here, but that's not hard to do. Also, some of the lyrics are wrong because they weren't worth getting right.

INSTRUMENTATION:
Timbill Corder (me): Pathetic Electric Organ
Trey Beauregard (man vs sun): Terrible Vocals
Tommy Scheurich: Horrible Viola, Abysmal Percussion, Godawful Background Vox

Who would do such a thing...?

While it probably has nothing to do with the fact that I once spent two years in an "Art Colony" in the Sonoran Desert, I really love this!

You have singlehandedly taken a miserable, repetitive song and rescued it, imbuing it with humor and interest. Well done sir. Well done.
