What's up with the potpourri of popery?

March 9, 2011 1:22 AM

that's it, really - just saw a bunch of songs by different people, all about popes.

was there a challenge I didn't see? is it a shady conspiracy? or strange synchronicity?

Basically there are some Papists loose. We tried to round them up, but they're slippery.

It was Demons of Gyrophonia (man vs sun's and my improv collective)'s RPM2011 album, The Golden Age of Bastards. The idea for the title and tracking was inspired by the ridiculousness in the history of the Catholic Church. The actual tracks themselves have nothing to do with religion or anything really. It was just a strange idea.

Personally I warmly welcome The Demons' brand of Pope-On-A-Ropery. At least it keeps ancient relics from reappearing in the MeFiMu charts like an unwelcome recurrence of athlete's foot. Hang on a sec, just need to scratch something......
