Fortune's Son

February 8, 2012 10:08 PM

My 2nd FAWM song of the month. A waltz about the ocean.

Lyrics:
Sail away with me darling
I want to know you
Want to console you
As your eyes put the ocean to sleep
And we sail along on the deep

I rise on the shore in the sunlight
And I hear you calling
Feel myself falling
For the sound of a siren I know
And your voice pulls me further below

Fortune’s son
Is smiling upon
All the waves
Will we ever see…
The land that we know
Will take all our sorrows away
In this endless dream

Explorers and sailors and the kings and the failures
They all know
What it means to be laid low
By the distance the ocean can bring
And there’s nothing left but to sing.

Fortune’s son
Is smiling upon
All the waves
Will we ever see…
The land that we know
Will take all our sorrows away
In this endless dream

Well done, I like it. Guitar sounds nice, harmonies are lovely too.

Okay, first, thanks for leaving in the intake of breath at the very beginning. Nice kickoff.

Are you just overdubbing all your own harmonies? Dubold's right, those are nice.

Karlos-
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I'm doubling my main vocal line, singing it twice, then adding a harmony line on top.

This technically has two harmony lines (4 vox tracks in all) because I tried the harmony in two different vocal styles and ended up leaving them both in.
