100 bars for Jennifer Higdon

March 6, 2013 5:20 PM

One of my favorite harmonies has long been two major chords separated by a major second, which I first remember hearing in Higdon's Concerto for Orchestra. This is a little meditation on that sound in largely 7/8.

That is a really neat sound. That interval confuses my brain.

Dense soundscape you've created here! It's both sort of chaotic and hectic but also organized and rigid. Intricately built. I'm not detecting anything other than 4/4, but I am not great at catching time signatures.

Nice track. Love the layered synths.

Beautiful. Would have liked to hear the piano part more drawn out.

After having a listen, I realised that I head these types of chords recently: while playing Final Fantasy 13! Can't remember where in the game though.
