Still Flying

April 12, 2013 6:27 PM

With all the fuss going on about the Jayne Hats from Firefly, thought it might be fun to share the first song from our Firefly-inspired music project, Leaves on the Wind.

The goal of the project is to write a song based on the storyline, themes and dialogue of each episode of the series, plus one for the movie, so 15 songs in all. Still Flying is our first track, based on the pilot episode. You can check out a video I made for it from the episode here. Enjoy!

This is a funny idea and it's a cute song. I think Joss Whedon would approve of the sentiment!

The female voice on the recording sounds a little unsure... Not all the time, but sometimes on the long or loud notes, she seems to falter a little with the pitch. I think it would be worth doing a few takes of this in a row, so that she can build up her confidence over each one and really nut it after a few.

Agree with greenish, she sounds unshure. I like her voice.

Don't think I agree with the whole hard left voice, hard left guitar. I have the tendency to move my head in the direction of the voice, like it helps me to hear the song (via headphones).

The idea is great! And also in the whole firefly feel of it, acoustic folksy and country. I'd make the whole "thumbs up" but you'll just have to settle for my "thumbs up" in quotation marks.

Make a few takes of the singing, make bits and pieces of the best, perhaps double track and you should be in golden voice heaven... or something like that. Otherwise, nice track, looking forward to hearing more!
