Metafilter Request Raffle - MST3k Theme

September 5, 2013 3:05 AM

My assignment: "A genre-bending cover of the Mystery Science 3000 theme, any season, any genre. "

I used the lyrics from the "Joel" seasons, and for genre I went with "Magnetic Fields ripoff homage"

Track recorded and mixed in Ableton Live 9. I used two free plugins that I highly recommend - the TAL Togu Reverb 1 and Lowcoders/bitplant "King Dubby Delay".

You are awesome and you should feel awesome. I cannot wait to see what your challenger thinks of this.

How did you know I was a huge Magnertic Feilds fanboy? Oh man, I assumed someone would rock it up, not go in this totally new and interesting direction, love love love it.

Hooray for challenges!

nice, i've actually tried and failed to do a chambery choir version of this (kinda riffing on the mellow synth-organ version they play at the end of each episode) I'll try again, but I invite anyone who actually has a nice voice to take the idea and run with it.

Awesome. I've always been tempted to do "Master Ninja Theme Song". This song makes my nostalgia grapes moisten.
