Pick me Up

Surprisingly jaunty for us, with a descent into ultra-fast strumming at the end.

Recorded live at rehearsal, then enhaned a bit in Reaper (eq, compression and reverb). An upbeat song about being messed around with. There's plenty more music from Sredni Vashtar, some of it more swirly and distorted than this. Thanks for listening

I'm very impressed it's from a live rehearsal. Sounded very tight and nicely mastered.

I absolutely loved this. I really like the vocals actually. I'm not sure why. Maybe because they are sort of like in the background and unobtrusive but also very of complimentary, almost like they are treated as just another instrument instead of being the foreground focus. I might have to try something like that next time I try to record some vocals.

I also love the music and the rhythmic and "jaunty" twist which contrasted nicely against the otherwise haunting melodies of the other parts.
Overall, I think this might be my kind of thing. I've bookmarked your Soundcloud. Will have to explore your other stuff sometime soon..

Thank you very much! I enjoyed your recent posting as well (xhu alt.) - you'd probably like Numbers as well - we're mixing up songs built around wonky riffs and songs built around more sprawling, cavernous sounding pads and loops (e.g. White Light Music Night). The fun part is building all this stuff up as a three piece and then playing it live. Although we've got to get into a proper studio at some point.

Cheers for the compliment on Xhu.

Yeah, I liked that Numbers song too. The rhythmic stuff is definitely cool. It's not quite as extreme as math rock but still very interesting and unexpected.
