Where My Mind Goes

June 2, 2014 9:41 PM

The artist formerly known as unSane here, now posting as Sportswriters because that's my band and to a large extent it grew out of my experiences here. I grew disillusioned with MeFi overall but Music will alway have a piece of my heart. We're now recording an album which I'll start posting soon but in the meantime, I sat on the porch and wrote a murder ballad. Here's a very rough demo. Very much influenced by Chuck Jackson, Aaron Neville and Little Anthony and the Imperials, dripping in vibrato guitar and soul chops. I think the final version will have some spooky strings and backing vocals, and not be as out of time as this!

I you listen carefully you can hear the birds cheeping through my window when I did the vocal.

Great to hear your stuff again and to have you back! Sounds pretty complete for a rough demo.

Yeah, it sounds great! If you can take out some of the decay/reverb/room sound from the snare and make it just a little bit darker it will be prefect.

I enjoyed this narrative. Good mellow song.

Now That's What I Call A Bit Of A Coincidence.... I just signed up again (used to be Major Dundee and some other pseudonym that I forget now) and see that you're also back in the fold Mr Brownlow. Mind you - it seems to be just the same old MeFiMu we know and love in terms of being a bleak and howling wilderness...;-)) So I'm not quite sure whether I should have hung onto my 3 quid. I've been enjoying a bit more success on MP3 Unsigned (with a different name) but that site's terribly cliquey and a bit like joining the local golf club. Anyway - glad to see you're still making a glorious noise!
