Me and Al

June 14, 2014 8:58 AM

This is a sketch of a work in progress. It started out as a simple cascade riff on the top three strings of the guitar and morphed into what appears to be an Irish fiddle lament.

I worry that I might have subconsciously arranged a traditional tune I heard long ago, but it's pretty anyhow. This audio file is the output of Notion for Mac, using the extended instruments package. If my collaborator (the titular Al) ever gets around to writing a real mandolin part, we'll find a violin player and record it with humans.

I'd love to hear this with real musicians. Also, it sounds like it would take lyrics very comfortably, have you any for it?

No lyrics yet. I haven't quite figured out the mood that words should supply.
