Absolutely Cuckoo

The first track of the Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs, covered as electronic music.

Everyone needs a ridiculous Internet project, and this is mine: Covering every one of the Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs as the 69 Chiptunes. Some are note-for-note reproductions; others impressionistic covers. I've almost finished the first 23 - Volume 1 of the triple album - and if it please the mods, I thought I would post them here.

I was thinking of posting the whole first volume in a mega-post, but it seems we can only upload one song per, so perhaps we will spread this out over time. I hope the MeFi music community will find this of interest, rather than an imposition.

I know that this is not technically a chiptune - it doesn't stay within the bounds of 8-or-16-bit video game audio. But it's built solely of analog chip tones in tracker software (I use ReNoise), and is an exercise in using a limited palette.

I like to think that this is the sound of computers singing love songs to each other, in the lab, after dark, when all the lights are out.
