it only takes one bullet
to put someone down for good
in America you can buy as many as you want
that don’t mean you should

how long, America? how long?
how long will you let this go on?

go down to the gun shop
they’ll sell you one real quick
they got a big selection there
you can take your pick
rapid fire machines of death
spray them bullets like confetti
the schools are full of children
that gun shop get you ready

how long, America? how long?
how long will you let this go on?

their numbers keep rising
the innocent victims of this crazy situation
only thing you can call it is madness
and in its grip it has an entire nation

for the thousands who are grieving
for the loss of their children and friends
we got to do all we can to ensure
that this unspeakable nightmare ends
that civilization will prevail
and say no, you can’t just go buy guns like these
and put an end to this culture of death
the nation’s spiritual disease

how long, America? how long?
how long will you let this go on?

Simply quote the full amendment "...as part of a well-regulated militia". See how many people are familiar with that. In my experience, hardly anyone.
