Sleepover

chococat, are you old enough to remember the tv show Room 222? For some reason this song reminds me of it. Yea, the song has a real sweetness to it and it goes really well with the slightly poppy 60s feel. Maybe it's the little run that the song also ends with. Very cool and thanks!

Another good one. Drums sound great, and I enjoyed hearing your voice with the "slacker whine" turned down a notch. Not that I don't love said whine... I think you consistently make good choices in terms of arrangement and production, it's really quite impressive.

This is just so damn great. I especially like the fact that it’s sweet and a bit nostalgic, but without being so romantic as to imply that life is all downhill from here. Read: Summer Of '69.
And it so goddam polished. I like It.

"slacker whine"
Ouch.
Funny, I thought I sounded particularly whiney/sappy in this one.
are you old enough to remember the tv show Room 222?
I am and I do, but from reruns. Ahhh, Karen Valentine.
if there was a way to post in detail about your recording technique in Metafilter Music, would you?
Probably not, it's really not that interesting.

you're saying it's not like that, right? *I hope*
Could pass for a Brian Wilson
Thanks, but that's blasphemous!
Thanks for the compliments.

Yes.
I don't point my Brian Adams Gun unless someone has done something very very wrong.

Oh, great sound(s)! You know what you are doing!
The single note, upbeat guitar fill on the V reminds me of Neil Young's "Winterlong". Jazz Mando did a great acoustic take on it for "The Deep Forbidden Lake". Sleepover feels super rich, like the latter. The bass even almost sounds like an upright sometimes!
I think lots of people would be curious just what-all it is you know about recording/mixing technique. I am a bit; though I understand that good part-writing is more important/fun.
Listening to Neil now it strikes me, you are "Cortex the Killer"! You are monstrous with electric boxes and such! I will have to check out more mefi music!

I could (once again) tell you how much I liked it (very much indeed), how surprised I am at the quality of your recordings (I am), and how your songs keep getting better. But you know all that already. I've said that before. So there. You did it again.
Tell me something, if there was a way to post in detail about your recording technique in Metafilter Music, would you?
